Established by the Town Center Community Improvement District (TCCID) in 2015, the Town Center Community Alliance (TCCA or simply the Alliance) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to shaping the future of Town Center by supporting and funding beautification, greenspace and other quality of life initiatives that help foster a sense of place within the District. The Alliance seeks to preserve and enhance the area’s natural beauty while creating opportunities for outdoor recreation by developing parks, trails, landscapes, artwork displays and other quality of life initiatives. Currently, the Alliance is working on developing valuable land with plans that will add nearly 50 acres of greenspace to the District. Additions such as Aviation Park, Town Center Park, and updates to the Bells Ferry Trailhead will spark a change in the landscape of Town Center, literally. The Bells Ferry Trailhead is at the eastern entrance to the seven-mile Noonday Creek Trail, and the enhancements will make the space more visitor-friendly. New amenities include restrooms, lighting and shade trees that will complement the spacious parking lot, bench seating and trash disposal. The Alliance hopes to create the best experience possible for walkers, joggers and cyclists to begin and end their time on the trail. Aviation Park is located adjacent to the Cobb County International Airport. In choosing this location, the Alliance recognized the potential of opening up valuable green space to the community, as well as drawing attention to the rich aviation history of the area. The park will offer state of the art playground equipment, a grassy open area for plane watching, and restrooms, all with a charming flight theme. Its family friendly atmosphere and contemporary design will make it a unique feature in the area. The cornerstone of the Alliance’s place-making efforts is the creation of Town Center Park, a 42-acre site located in the heart of the District. This project will convert under-utilized green space and add more enjoyable outdoor outlets to the Town Center area. The Park will combine three styles in one and include a picturesque water feature, a linear park and a woodland area for ecological and educational use. Both Town Center Park and Aviation Park will connect to the Noonday Creek Trail and the future Town Center Loop Trail. Unlike the TCCID, which is supported through a voluntary tax from commercial property owners, the Alliance may accept donations from anyone in or outside the District who wishes to contribute to its projects. This offers the Alliance more diverse investment opportunities and allows the organization to invest in projects both inside and outside the TCCID’s 6.25-mile boundary area, as appropriate.
